Rafting Porters Race - The porters are an integral part of the competition, without them it wouldn't be possible to take the equipment in and out of the Batoka Gorge. This exciting race has the professional team porters demonstrating their strength and endurance - a 2.5km sprint with inflatable rafts.
Kayak and Raft Slalom event - This event will take place in the tight steep-sided and continuous stretch between rapids 12a, b, c and the Mother number 13. The slalom will be made up of both upstream and down stream gates situated to ensure the teams and kayakers make the most of eddies and boil lines.
Raft Sprint Event Rapids 1 to 5 split - As per last year the Sprint Events will be split into the three separate rapids. The teams will clock times against a different competitor in each rapid. Rapids One, Three and Five will be used for this event.
Down River Kayak Event - A grueling 9 kilometer section of the river starting in the mist beneath the Falls and ending 8 major rapids and 6 long flat stretches later just beneath rapid number 11 "The overland Truck Eater" There will be a mandatory portage around rapid number 9.
Raft Down River Race Rapids 1 to 11 - A grueling 9 kilometer section of the river starting in the mist beneath the Falls and ending 8 major rapids and 6 long flat stretches later just beneath rapid number 11 "The overland Truck Eater" There will be a mandatory portage around rapid number 9.
Kayak Rodeo Event - This event is dependant on the level of the river. The Zambezi is characterised by big water and as with last year when we held this event on two waves, a simpler more controllable wave and a hectic thumping monster of a wave. What ever happens we will see some good air and amazing footage.
Drum Out - This is a fun evening competition where the teams will compete in a rythmic drumming competition. Lead by a local team of professional drummers. After the event lots of fun and dancing ensues!
